Welcome to my dev log of Cosmic Cowboy. Here I'll show the journey of where the game currently is in pre alpha all the way up to its release. I'll share as much I can about the game such as features, mechanics and my personal input such as the game / level and audio design.
Cosmic Cowboy is a Tactics turn-based RPG inspired by Fallout 1 and XCom, where the player must navigate the distant planet of Proxima Centauri B and its dangerous inhabitants in this character-driven Space Western narrative.
On this project I have taken the roles of lead game, level, and audio designer. This project has given me the ability to massively flex my creative muscles, as the small nature of the team (5 of us) allows me to have a lot of creative control over the project.
So far the current state of the project is nicely set in its pre alpha stages, we have managed to get the core foundations of the gameplay more or less set. With the time we have spent on the project (2 months) I'm very happy and comfortable with how much we have managed to accomplish with such as small team.
So far I have created:
- 1 completed level (Tutorial)
- 3 level design drafts
- 3 Soundtracks
- Several in-game animations
- Numerous pieces of sound effects
- Started on the 2nd level
I absolutely love the low poly atheistic that was chosen, it gives the game such a unique and clean appearance, it really helps to build the game's atmosphere and world building.
For now, I only wanted to touch on the concept and basic aspects of the game, stay tuned for more dev logs for Cosmic Cowboy as the game progresses.
